A darker interpretation of my pale, pale self. I've never been a big comic-book fan, but I took the inspiration from various beautifully designed Batman comics and graphic novels. Nerd.

This is my good friend, and all around geek/genius, Ryan Paley giving me the stink eye at Yankee Stadium. Maybe he would smile if the Yankees won a few of the games in our season ticket plan. We payed a fortune to see Joba Chamberlain, Phil Hughes, and Chien-Ming Wang pitch and instead we get Sidney Ponson and Darrell Rasner. The only time I saw Paley smile during a game this year was when an entire family of obese people nearly fell down the stairs in unison.

You Stole My Bag

You know who you are. You swiped my bag from one of the baseball diamonds on the Great Lawn. You moved past the bags with iPhones and wallets in them and chose mine, which had a pair of shorts and a polo shirt in it. I hope you enjoyed the outfit and the loose change you got away with. I simply used my iPhone (which you didn't get) to find a store to buy new clothes with my credit card (which was in the wallet you didn't get) and enjoyed a late-night viewing of Wall-E (which you don't deserve to see).

You, on the other hand, had to spend the evening pondering your pitiful existence as a feeble-minded lowlife who steals from innocent freckled geeks.

I know what you look like. If I ever see you again, this is what I'm gonna do with you (snaps pencil in half with thumb).

I don't know why I made a King Tut vector. I like ancient history. I love the Egyptian Art wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. My roommate is an Arab (although he tells me ancient Egyptians weren't).

None of that really has anything to do with this vector.

I just like King Tut's burial mask. It's gold, it's beautiful, and I'm probably not allergic to it.

I was fortunate enough to see Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers perform at Madison Square Garden the other night. I own every Tom Petty album ever recorded, but this was my first time seeing him live. I had heard that he was one of the best live performers in the AARP club… and he didn't let me down. Aside from The Beach Boys and Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, was there ever a better American group?

Toad The Wet Sprocket?

Highlights included Mary Jane's Last Dance, A Face In The Crowd, Mystic Eyes, a surprise performance of The Traveling Wilburys classic End of The Line, and a rousing rendition of Gimme Some Lovin' with Steve Winwood.

My crippling asthma and allergies have prevented me from owning a dog, which is tragic, since I like them more than I like humans. If you are one those people whose eyes well up after 5 minutes of Animal Cops, you will understand the sort of abuse thousands of these animals go through every day. Please donate to the ASPCA. I only wish I made more money so I could give more myself.

If you are short on cash and want to help, just hitchhike down to Leavenworth, wait until Michael Vick is strolling around the yard, and pelt him with a rock, a stick, an old shoe, or any other garbage you find laying around.

Opening Day

After months of waiting, baseball returns to replace my usual nightly programming with Michael Kay's enormous head. Always one of my favorite days of the year, this Opening Day will be a particularly bittersweet one in the Bronx. The Yankees are beginning their final season in The House That Ruth Built. I've spent more time in Yankee Stadium than I can calculate and many of my best memories took place there. Watching Tino Martinez and Derek Jeter rally the Yankees to victory in game 4 of the 2001 World Series (The first major league baseball game ever played in November) was one of the highlights of my short, freckled life.

On a side note, I'd like to personally thank the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants for making this year's baseball off-season the most enjoyable one I can remember. Customarily my Yankee countdown clock starts the moment the Giants stumble in the Wild Card round, but my beloved football season was extended several weeks by the greatest playoff run I have ever seen.

Let's hope the Yankees can celebrate one last World Series title in the real Yankee Stadium. The excitement starts at 1:05pm (with a possible rain delay) and ends at 3:47 when Kyle Farnsworth gives up a 3-run homer to Frank Thomas and the Yankees lose 6-4.

This is the first entry to contain a blog post. Although it would be much more appropriate to use this space to celebrate the many contributions the Irish have made toward American society, I'm more concerned with the functionality of my website, so this is a nice test.

Besides, I haven't gotten over the paleness and freckles. Damn you, Irish blood.
